Text and translation
When I reached the station, the train had already left. I had checked an old timetable and had not noticed the change. Fortunately, I had bought a ticket that allowed a later departure. The station assistant explained which platform I needed. By the time I called my colleague, she had already arrived at our destination. She used the extra time to collect the conference materials for both of us.
