The figures looked inconsistent because we had combined two versions of the spreadsheet. One colleague had updated the totals, while another had changed the category names. Neither had realised that the shared link pointed to an older file. We paused the review and compared the revision history. After we had identified the correct version, the differences became easy to explain. We then agreed on a clearer process for naming and sharing files.
