Text and translation

In conversation, "that version we looked at yesterday" may be perfectly clear to the people present. In an email forwarded to others, the document title and date should be stated explicitly. Spoken hesitations can usually be removed, but useful qualifications should remain. Changing "I think we should check this" to "this is wrong" would alter the strength of the original claim. A polished written version should therefore improve clarity without inventing certainty. The medium changes, but the speaker's intended position should remain recognisable.
