We considered both rewriting the entire guide and adding a targeted introductory section. A complete rewrite could improve consistency, but it would require substantially more preparation time. The evidence points most clearly to difficulties at the beginning of the process. I therefore recommend the targeted addition as the first step. If the addition fails to improve the experience, a more extensive revision can then be considered.
