Text and translation

"It is rather difficult to hear from the back" may function as a request to speak louder, not merely as a description. In a presentation, the practical response is usually to check the microphone or adjust the delivery. The indirect wording allows the speaker to raise the problem without issuing an instruction. However, indirectness is not interpreted identically in every setting or relationship. A brief response such as "Would it help if I used the microphone?" can confirm the intended request. Understanding the implication should lead to a useful exchange rather than a confident guess about personality.
